Country Fried Apples
3 large Apples, Granny Smith
3 large Apples, Golden Delicious
1 tablespoon Lemon juice
1/4 cup Butter, with salt
1/3 cup Sugar, brown
1 teaspoon Cinnamon, ground
1 pinch Nutmeg, ground
2 tablespoon Sugar, granulated
Recipe
1. Core, peel and slice apples.
2. In a bowl, combine cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar; set aside.
3. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
4. Add apples (form a ring with the slices) and sprinkle with the lemon juice and brown sugar.
5. Cover and cook over low heat for 15 minutes or until apples are tender and juicy.
6. Sprinkle with sugar mixture.
7. Stir gently and cook for 5 minutes until juice thickens slightly.
8. Serve warm.
9. Great accompaniment to ham or pork dinners. May also be served as a dessert.
