Fruit Kuchen
1 cup milk
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar, divided
1 teaspoon salt
1 package dry yeast
1 egg
3 cups flour, divided
2 cans (15-1/2 oz. each) fruit--apricot, peaches,
cherries, apples, etc. Your choice....drained
1/4 cup butter, cut into pieces
Recipe
in pan over medium heat, combine milk, 1/2 cup butter,
1/2 cup sugar and salt. Heat until butter melts.
Transfer to bowl, stir in yeast, egg, 2-1/2 cups
flour, mix until sticky dough forms. Cover with
plastic wrap, let rise in warm place until doubled.
Spray 13x9" baking pan with baking spray. Spread
dough evenly into bottom of pan. Cover. let rise until
doubled, about 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Arrange fruit halves or
slices over dough, cut sides down. Combine remaining
sugar and flour, mix in butter pieces until crumbly,
sprinkle over top of fruit. Bake 35-45 minutes or
until til lightly golden. Cool 10 minutes before
cutting.
Depending on the fruit used, I sometimes sprinkle with
a little cinnamon or nutmeg.
