    A delicious brown sugar fudge.

    List of Ingredients




    1 box (1 lb.) brown sugar
    3/4 cup milk
    2 Tb. butter or margarine
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 - 1/2 cups broken nut meats (optional)

    Recipe



    Heat sugar, milk and butter in a large, heavy
    saucepan, with a candy thermometer, over
    moderate heat.

    Stir until sugar dissolves.

    Lower heat slightly and cook, uncovered,
    WITHOUT STIRRING, to 240 degrees F. or until
    mixture forms a soft ball in cold water.

    Take off heat and add vanilla. Do not stir.
    Cool to 100 degrees F.

    Beat until thick and no longer shiny. You will
    begin to "sense" when the fudge is hardening
    and ready to pour into the pan. Quickly add
    nuts (optional).

    Pour into buttered 8"x 8"x 2" pan, spreading to edges.
    Score in 1" squares and cool to room temperature.

    Cut into 1" squares.

    Store in airtight container.
