    We all loved this in our family, so Mom made it often.

    List of Ingredients




    2 cups split peas or whole yellow peas
    Ham bone
    Cube of salt pork
    1 large chopped onion
    1 cup chopped celery
    1/2 cup chopped carrots
    1 clove garlic
    1 bay leaf
    Dash of thyme
    Salt and pepper to taste

    Recipe



    Simmer the ham bone and salt pork
    in a large pot of water with the split peas.
    Add water if the soup appears too thick.

    After 45 minutes, add the other ingredients and continue simmering,
    until the peas have become pureed in the soup.

    Remove the ham bone.
    Return any pieces of ham from the bone to the soup.

    Serve.
