Dorothy Mae's Pie Crust
My mother made the most awesome pie crust. She always said it was because she made the dough on the wet side.
List of Ingredients
3 c flour
1 to 2 tbsp Crisco
cold water
Recipe
In a mixing bowl, cut in the Crisco into the flour with a pastry blender or use two knives to "cut in " the shortning. The dough will be very "pebbly".
Begin to add a little water (maybe a slight ounce) and work the dough with your fingers to mix in the water. Keep adding water and working the dough until the dough is slightly on the "wet" side, but not mushy. My mom always said her secret to her amazing pie crust was that her dough was "wetter" than most recipes called for.
This recipe makes enough for a two crust pie and the dough freezes well if you are only making a single crust pie.
If making a two crust pie, separate the dough into two portions and roll each portion out separately on a floured surface into size needed.
