    • 2 2/3 cup sugar
    • 2/3 cup light karo syrup
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 2 egg whites
    • 1 teas. vanilla
    • 2/3 cup chopped nuts (walnuts are best)


    Instructions


    1. Heat sugar, Karo, and water, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves.
    2. cook without stirring to 260 degrees, hard ball stage.
    3. Remove from heat.
    4. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form and continue beating while pouring syrup in a thin stream into egg whites.
    5. Add vanilla, beat until it holds its shape and becomes slightly dull.
    6. Fold in nuts.
    7. Drop from buttered spoon onto wax paper. Cool.
