    mom's best spaghetti sauce!!!!


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 - 1-1/4 lbs. sweet Italian sausage
    • 2 T. water
    • 1 large can (28 oz.) tomatoes, chopped, if possible
    • 1 @ 6 oz. can tom. paste
    • 2 @ 8 oz. tom. sauce
    • 1-1/2 t. basil
    • 1/2 t. sugar
    • 1/4 t. oregano
    • 1/2 t. minced garlic
    • 1/2 c. red wine OR 1/2 c. water (optional)


    Instructions


    1. Cut sausage into chunks 1 to 1-1/2" long. Put in a large pot with 2 T. water. Cover and cook over med-low heat about 10 minutes. Drain well in colander and wipe out pot with paper towels. Return sausage to pot and brown uncovered about 5 more minutes.

    2. Chop 28 oz. can of tomatoes, if not already chopped, in food processor or blender, juice and all.
    3. Stir tomato paste, tomato sauce & chopped tomatoes into sausage.
    4. Add basil, sugar, oregano, garlic & red wine or water if desired.
    5. Simmer over low heat with lid ajar so sauce will thicken--about 2-1/2 hrs.


    Final Comments


    The best spaghetti sauce ever!!!!!!
