    creamy garlic mushroom sauce

    List of Ingredients




    1 pound of mushrooms
    1 small carton double cream
    4 cloves of garlic
    1 small onion
    4 ounces of butter
    1/2 pint of milk
    1 ounce of flour
    salt
    pepper


    Recipe



    finely chop the onion and garlic and saute in 1 ounce of the butter
    chop the mushrooms into fine strips and add to pan with onion and another 1 ounce of butter and saute till soft and tender
    in another pan melt the remainding butter then mix in flour to form a smooth paste, gradually add the milk,whisking constantly to avoid lumps,till a nice thick creamy constistency is reached
    remove from heat and add mushroom mixture to the sauce , season to taste, add the cream and heat gently but dont boil or the cream will split
    delicious poured over roast chicken portions or steak and served with crispy vegetables
