    Blood Orange Sunrise

    Source of Recipe

    Raising The Bar

    Recipe Introduction

This cocktail is a new twist on the classic Tequila Sunrise. Use a vibrant tequila, such as Porfidio Angejo, to stand up to full-flavored blood oranges.

    List of Ingredients

    • sugar, to rim glasses
    • 16 oz fresh-squeezed blood orange juice, (from 5 oranges), some rinds reserved for rimming the glasses
    • 1 pomegranate or 2 tsps grenadine
    • ice, for serving
    • 8 fluid ounces tequila

    Instructions

    1. Pour the sugar onto a small plate. Rub the juicy side of the reserved blood orange rind along the outer edge of the lip of each highball glass. Holding each glass at an angle, roll the outer edge of the rim in the sugar until it is fully coated.
    2. Cut the pomegranate crosswise in half. Over a bowl, squeeze the pomegranate, letting the juice and many of the seeds run out.
    3. Fill the glasses with ice. Into each of the glasses, pour 2 oz tequila and 4 oz blood orange juice.
    4. Into each glass, spoon a generous amount of the pomegranate juice and seeds, or 2 tsps grenadine or Pom, and serve.
