    Recipe Introduction


    Two layers of oaty goodness surroudning a traditional fudge brownie layer got a top score from testers.


    List of Ingredients


    • 2 cups uncooked quick-cooking oats
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
    • 1 cup chopped walnuts
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, melted
    • 1 3/4 cups semisweet mini chocolate chips
    • 1 (19 to 21 oz) pkg fudge brownie mix, prepared according to pkg directions


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    2. In a large bowl combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, walnuts, and baking soda. Beat in the ubtter until the mixture forms coarse crumbs. Stir in the chocolate chips and mix well.
    3. Reserve 3 cups of the mixture. Pat the remaining mixture onto the bottom of a 15 x 10-inch jelly roll pan to form the crust.
    4. Pour the prepared brownie mix over the crust, spreading it into a thin layer.
    5. Sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture over the top of the brownie mixture; pat down lightly.
    6. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out with moist crumbs. Cool completely. Cut into bars.
