    Rich butterscotch flavor makes these chewy, frosted
    bars favorites.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1/2 c. shortening
    • 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 1/2 sifted flour
    • 1 t. baking powder
    • 1 t. salt
    • 2 t. vanilla
    • 3/4 c. pecans
    • Praline Frosting:
    • 2 T. butter
    • 1/4 c. brown sugar
    • 2 T.milk or cream
    • 1 c. sifted powder sugar


    Instructions


    1. Melt shortening in sauce pan. Add remaining
      ingredients except frosting and mix well.
    2. Spread in greased 13x9 inch pan.

    3. Bake at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool slightly, then
      spread with frosting. When cool, cut into bars.

    4. Praline frosting:
      Melt in pan, 2 T. butter, 1/4 c. brown sugar and 2 T.
      milk or cream. Stir in 1 c. sifted powder sugar,
      enough to make a frosting of spreading consistency and
      beat until smooth.



    Final Comments


    Coconut pralines:
    Sub 3/4 c. coconut for pecans and bake as directed.
