    List of Ingredients


    • 1 cup butter (no substitutes) , softened
    • 3/4 cup sugar
    • 1 tsp. almond extract
    • 2 cup all purpose flour
    • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    • 1/4 tsp. salt
    • Additional sugar
    • Glaze:
    • 1 cup confectioners sugar
    • 1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
    • 2 to 3 tsp. water
    • Green food coloring, optional
    • Sliced almonds, toasted


    Instructions


    1. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in almond extract.
    2. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add to creamed mixture.
    3. Roll into 1 inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Coat bottom of a glass with nonstick cooking spray and dip in sugar. Flatten cookies with prepared glass, dipping glass in sugar again as needed.
    4. Bake at 400 degrees for 7 to 9 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool for 1 minute before removing to wire racks.
    5. In a small bowl, whisk together the confectioners sugar, almond extract and enouth water to achieve glaze consistency. Tint with food coloring if desired. Drizzle over cookies. Sprinkle with almonds.
