    • 8 oz pkg of cream cheese, softened
    • 3/4 cup butter, softened
    • 3/4 cup sugar
    • 1 T vanilla extract
    • 1 tsp anise extract
    • 4 eggs
    • 3 1/4 cups flour
    • 1 T salt
    • 1/2 cup sliced almonds, toasted


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
    2. Beat cream cheese, butter, sugar, and extracts in large bowl until well blended. Stir in eggs. Gradually add combined dry ingredients and mix well. Stir in almonds.
    3. Flour dough board and hands. Shape dough into three logs, 12" x 1 1/2", and flatten logs slightly. Place logs about 2" apart on a lightly greased and floured cookie sheet.
    4. Bake 15 to 20 minutes, or until light golden brown.
    5. Remove from oven and slice diagonally into 3/4" pieces. Place sliced side down on cookie sheet and bake for another 5 minutes until lightly brown. Flip slices and bake for 5 more minutes.
