    • 3 lbs ripe Anjou pears, about 5, peeled, cored and sliced 1/2" thick
    • 1 cup fresh cranberries, or frozen, thawed
    • 3/4 cup sugar
    • 1 1/4 cups flour
    • 1/2 cup almonds, finely chopped
    • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar, packed
    • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted, cooled, plus more for pan
    • vanilla ice cream for serving


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Butter a 11x7x2-inch glass baking dish.
    2. In a large bowl combine pears, cranberries, and 1/2 cup sugar, set aside for 15 minutes.
    3. In medium bowl mix flour, almonds, brown sugar, ginger and remaining sugar. Using a fork, add butter, stirring until moist clumps form.
    4. Transfer fruit to prepared baking dish. Sprinkle topping over fruit. Bake until golden brown, about 45 minutes.
    5. Cool slightly. Serve warm with ice cream.
