    Recipe Introduction

    Requires marinating overnight.

    List of Ingredients

    • 1/2 cup soy sauce or tamari
    • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
    • 1 teaspoon bottled chopped garlic
    • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
    • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
    • 1 (1 1/2 to 2 pound) flank steak

    Instructions

    1. In a large, resealable plastic bag, combine all the ingredients except the steak, shaking well to mix.
Add the steak, and turn to coat with the marinade.

    2. Refrigerate overnight, turning the bag occasionally.

    3. When ready to prepare, preheat the broiler or grill. Snip a corner of the bag and drain the marinade into a small saucepan.

    4. On a foil-lined broiling pan, place the flank steak and broil on the highest oven rack about 4 minutes on each side, or to desired doneness. Watch carefully for flare-ups. (Alternately, cook for 4 minutes on each side over a medium-hot fire on a grill.)

    5. Remove pan from oven and slice steak diagonally across the grain.

    6. Bring the marinade in the saucepan to a boil over medium-high heat; reduce and simmer for 5 minutes on low. Serve with the steak.
