    List of Ingredients

    • 3/4 cup flour
    • 1 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1 1/2 tsp pepper, divided
    • 6 cube steaks, tenderized (4 oz each)
    • 2 1/4 cups 2% milk, divided
    • 8 oz fresh mushrooms, sliced
    • cooking spray
    • 1 pkg brown gravy mix (1.16 oz)
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

    Instructions

    1. Combine first 3 ingredients in a shallow dish. Dredge cube steaks in flour mixture, and dip in 1/2 cup milk. Dredge in flour mixture again.
    2. Saute mushrooms in a large skillet coated with cooking spray over medium high heat for 2 minutes or until tender; remove and keep warm.
    3. Cook cube steaks in a skillet coated with cooking spray about 8 minutes on each side or until browned. Remove from skillet and keep warm. Whisk together gravy mix and water until smooth. Set mixture aside.
    4. Add remaining 1 3/4 cups milk to skillet, stirring well. Bring to a boil. Stir in gravy mixture and mushrooms; reduce heat and simmer 1 to 2 minutes or until mixture thickens. Serve gravy over steaks and sprinkle with pepper and parsley.

    Serves 6

*Fresh gravy: if you don't want to use gravy mix, make your own from the pan drippings. Add 2 T all-purpose flour to the steak juices left in the skillet. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
