    List of Ingredients


    • 2 cups flour
    • 4 tbsp sugar, divided
    • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 5 tbsp cold butter, cubed
    • 2/3 cup chopped dates
    • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
    • 1/3 cup milk
    • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon


    Instructions


    1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    2. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles fine crumbs.
    3. Stir in the dates.
    4. Combine the eggs and the milk.
    5. Stir into the crumb mixture just until blended. The Batter Will Be Soft.
    6. Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead the dough ten times. Pat into a 9 inch x 6 inch rectangle. Using a floured knife, cut into six 3 inch squares. Cut each square diagonally in half. Place on a greased baking sheet.
    7. Combine the cinnamon and the remaining sugar. Sprinkle over the scones.
    8. Bake at 400 F for 12-14 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to a wire rack. Serve warm.
