    Lazy-Day Peach Tart

    Source of Recipe

    Simply Perfect Picnics

    List of Ingredients

    • 1/2 of a 15-oz pkg folded refrigerated unbaked piecrust (1 crust)
    • 1/4 cup sugar
    • 4 tsp all-purpose flour
    • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
    • 3 cups sliced, peeled peaches or nectarines (1 1/2 lbs)
    • 1 T lemon juice
    • 1 beaten egg
    • 1 T water
    • powdered sugar (optional)
    • sweetened whipped cream (optional)

    Instructions

    1. Let the piecrust stand at room temperature according to package directions; unfold.
    2. Line a large baking sheet with foil, and lightly flour. On foil-lined baking sheet, roll pastry into a 14 x 11" oval. Stir together sugar, flour, and nutmeg in a large mixing bowl. Stir in peaches or nectarines and lemon juice. Spoon fruit mixture onto crust, leaving a 2" border. Fold pastry border up and over fruit, folding edges gently as needed. Combine egg and water; brush onto the top and sides of the pastry.
    3. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 40 to 45 minutes or till crust is golden. If necessary, cover top crust with foil for the last 10 to 15 minutes of baking to prevent overbrowning. Cool for 30 minutes on the baking sheet. Dust edges with powdered sugar, if desired. Serve warm or cool with sweetened whipped cream, if desired.
