    Recipe Introduction

Posted by: carolinacooker***********I made cookygram's (Anita's) coffee concentrate and tried it out this morning and it was great! What a smooth, delcious cup of coffee it made! Thanks, Anita, for sharing this unique recipe. This will be wonderful to take camping as well as using on a daily basis at home!

I will post her original recipe as well as the "rewrite" of the way I proceeded with it.

    List of Ingredients

    7 – 8 cups COLD water
    1 lb. coffee, any grind

Put coffee and water into stainless steel or glass bowl, let sit 12 hours. I usually prepare above at night and let sit overnight.

    To filter you should have:
    Large receptacle
    4 layers of paper filters
    Strainer

Use ladle to put grounds and water into strainer, discard grounds in about 10 minutes and refill. It will take about three fillings of the strainer before you are finished. You will end up with 28 – 32 oz. of concentrate.

Pour concentrate into any capable 1 quart bottle and put into refrigerator.

I use 1 ½ oz. concentrate in a standard size coffee cup and fill with hot water. Alter amount of concentrate to suit your taste. If you use cream and sugar you may find you don’t need as much.

    Also makes fantastic iced coffee.

    Coffee Concentrate
    Posted by cookygram

    7 – 8 cups COLD water
    1 pound coffee, any grind

Put coffee and water into stainless steel or glass bowl, cover and let sit at room temperature for at least 12 hours.

    To filter you should have:
    Large receptacle
2-4 layers coffee paper filters (Mr. Coffee/basket style filters work best)*

Line a strainer with coffee filters. In batches, use a ladle to put grounds and water into the lined strainer, discarding grounds (and filter papers, if needed) in about 10 minutes and reline and refill. It will take about three fillings of the strainer before you are finished. You will end up with 28 – 32 oz. of concentrate.

Pour concentrate into any capable 1-quart container with lid and store in refrigerator.

To reconstitute, use 2 ounces (1/4 cup) of concentrate (or the amount according to personal taste) per 8 ounces of boiling water.

*If using cone coffee filters, keep them flat, and shape and overlap them to line the strainer, making sure to completely cover all the mesh.
