    Recipe Introduction

Posted by: starshineeliz**********People love hot bread and especially garlic bread. Commander's Palace puts a plate of garlic bread on the table before you order. It's addicting and delicious. We made this the other night to have with gumbo. We sometimes just put a platter out with the other cocktail food at cocktail parties. Doesn't last long and people always comment that it's unusual and welcome. Most people don't put out a platter of hot buttered bread at a party, but we do! Sometimes, the folks will put a slice of tenderloin or whatever other meat we are serving on top of the bread

    List of Ingredients

    1 loaf French bread
8 tbsp. (1 stick) unsalted butter
2 cloves garlic, mashed to a puree
1/4 c. finely chopped fresh dill (I don't chop it. I break it off the stems and put it right on the bread. Looks prettier not chopped up.)
1/4 c. freshly grated Parmesan cheese

    Recipe

    1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
    2. Slice bread lengthwise. Melt butter in a small skillet, add garlic and heat gently for 2 minutes.

    3. Brush the melted butter generously on the cut sides of the bread halves. Sprinkle with dill and cheese.Cut each half crosswise in 1 inch slices before baking.

    4. Bake until very hot, 5 to 8 minutes.Doesn't need to cook very long. Serve immediately with appetizers or soups.
