    Recipe Introduction

    List of Ingredients

    1/4 pound butter
    2 cups sugar
    2 cups milk
    3 eggs
    2 Tablespoons cinnamon
    2 teaspoons salt
    4 teaspoons baking powder
    4 cups flour
    2 teaspoons vanilla
    1 package raisins
    1 cup chopped pecans
    some whole pecans

    Recipe

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Add vanilla, raisins and chopped pecans. Pour into 2 well buttered and floured loaf pans. Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
Note: Use whole pecans to decorate tops of loaves before baking.)

We like lots of raisins in our bread so I do use 2 cups. This bread is real good the next day toasted as well. You do need to toast under the broiler since this type of bread does not hold together well enough for the toaster.

The raisins do not need to be softened if you open a new box but if yours has been around for awhile it really does help to soak them for a few minutes in warm water or even orange juice.
