    Recipe Introduction

Posted by: yumaaz******These bars are best warm, slightly chewy. If you have left overs, wrap them well because they dry out

    List of Ingredients

    1 1/4 cups flour
    2 cups quick-cooking rolled oats
    1/2 teaspoon soda
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 cup butter
    3/4 cup butterscotch chips
    1 cup dark brown sugar
    2 teaspoons vanilla
    1 egg

    Recipe

Mix flour, oats, soda and salt. Heat butter until nutty brown, about 12 minutes. Pour hot butter over chips and whisk until smooth. Whisk in sugar until dissolved, then whisk in vanilla and egg until combined. Stir in flour mixture in 2 additions until combined. Line 9x13 pan with foil, leaving an overhang to lift the bars out. Spread batter in pan. Bake at 350° until edges are golden brown and toothpick comes out with a few crumbs attached, 17-19 minutes. Drizzle warm glaze over and cool until warm to touch. Lift from pan and cool; cut into bars.

    Glaze:

    2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
    1 tablespoon water
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    1/4 cup butterscotch chips

Bring water, sugar and salt to boil. Pour hot over butterscotch chips, whisking until smooth.

These were very sweet, chewy, especially while warm.
