    TOH Peanut Butter Bars

    Source of Recipe

    BBR

    Recipe Introduction

Jaxon's PB Bars when they mentioned the recipe. I sure wish I had created these little jewels, but alas, I am only their #1 Fan! I don't remember who posted it originally or who the author of the recipe was in Taste of Home Magazine.

    List of Ingredients

1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
    1 egg, beaten
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips

    Icing (**See Note)
    1 cup confectioners sugar
    1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
    1/4 cup milk

    Recipe

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13-by 9-inch baking dish and set aside.

In a mixing bowl, cream butter, sugars and peanut butter. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. Combine flour oats, baking soda and salt; stir into creamed mixture. Spread into prepared pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool 10 minutes.

Combine icing ingredients; drizzle over bars.

**JAXON'S NOTE: OK, so this is not EXACTLY the original recipe. The original called for less icing than this but so many of us liked more that I have changed the recipe to reflect the doubled amounts for the icing. Trust us, they really are better this way!
