    From: Gooseberry Patch Celebrate Year 'Round cookbook

    List of Ingredients




    2 lbs. pork loin, cut into 1 inch cubes
    2 lbs. Saurkraut
    2 cups onion sliced
    6 slices bacon, cut in half
    3 cups water

    Brown pork in a large skillet and set aside. Place one pound of the sauerkraut in a 2 quart casserole dish. Cover with one cup of onion and pork. Top with remaining onion and sauerkraut. Top with bacon. Pour water over the layers and bake uncovered at 300 degrees overnight, or about 7 to 8 hours. Serves 4-6.

    My Notes:I used the crockpot and cooked it on low for 10 hours. I cut the pork down the middle long ways, browned it, put 1 half on top of the kraut(I did not drain) and sliced onion, then added the other half, then added chopped (thawed) diced onion and the rest of the kraut. Then added the bacon and I only used 2 cups of water since I didnt drain my kraut. I use Bush brand in the jar I just really ike that brand better. I did add 1 small can of kriger brand of kraut as well just beacuse I love kraut. I did drain the can of kraut fist, but just the can
