    Recipe Introduction

    List of Ingredients

3/4 lb. (3 sticks) of unsalted butter
1 tsp. ground nutmeg or mace (I used mace but nutmeg is fine, also)
    1 tsp. pure vanilla
1 lb. box - sifted confectioners sugar
    6 eggs
3 cups sifted all purpose flour (you are supposed to measure after sifting - unbleached, if possible)

    Recipe

Grease and lightly flour or sugar the bottom of a large tube pan, set aside. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Place butter (room temperature) in a mixing bowl. Mix until softened. Blend in nutmeg or mace and vanilla.
Gradually stir in confectioners sugar, slowly, but incorporating well.
Beat in eggs, one at a time. Stir or fold in flour - you can add the flour alternately with the eggs but you don't have to.

Pour the batter (it will be thick) into the prepared tube pan (10x4) and bake in the preheated 325 degree oven until a straw or skewer comes out clean. Generally about an hour or more.

This has good flavor and has the crust that many people really like on a pound cake. It will increase in flavor if you bake it a day or two ahead - never worked for me as my husband loves a pound cake when it comes out of the oven!!!!
