    Recipe Introduction

Posted by: arelabs***The recipe comes from Pillsbury, and the directions from mine are simple - just blend all ingredients. I have done it this way from the get-go, and it's perfect everytime. I've never used the Butter Sauce, as the cake's flavor stands alone, but I must try that sometime. Arlene

    List of Ingredients

3 c Pillsbury All Purpose flour
    2 c sugar
    1 t salt
    1 t baking powder
    1/2 t soda
    1 c buttermilk
1 c margarine or butter, softened
2 t vanilla or rum extract
    4 eggs

    Butter Sauce
    1/4 c sugar
    1/3 c margarine or butter
    3 T water
1 to 2 t vanilla or rum extract

    Recipe

Heat oven to 325°. Generously grease (using 1T solid shortening) and lightly flour 12-cup fluted tube pan or 10-inch tube pan. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. In large bowl, blend all cake ingredients at low speed until moistened. Beat 3 minutes at medium speed. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake at 325° for 55 to 70 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

In small saucepan, combine Sauce ingredients until margarine melts. Do not boil. Prick cake 10 to 12 times with long-tined fork. Slowly pour hot Sauce over cake. Cook before removing from pan. Just before serving, spring with powdered sugar.
