    Recipe Introduction

    Posted by: bebeblues

I've always called these angel wings, but some people call these crispies. I got this recipe online

    List of Ingredients

    3 C. Flour (about)
    1/2 tsp Salt
    1/4 tsp Baking powder
    1/2 cube Butter (soft)
6 Egg yolks - OR 3 whole eggs
-- whole eggs make pastry crispier
    1/2 C. sugar
    1 tsp Vanilla
    1/2 pt. Sour cream

    Recipe

Beat egg yolks or whole eggs, sugar, vanilla,
soft butter, and sour cream until well
    blended.In seperate bowl mix together
flour, salt and baking powder. Pour dry mix
into wet mix. Work with hands until well
blended. OR Use hvy. duty mixer with dough
hook, and knead until a good dough ball is
formed. Add more flour as needed. Turn dough
onto floured board - knead until dough is
smooth and elastic. Add more flour as
needed. Mold dough into ball - let dough rest
for 5 minutes. Devide dough into 2 or 3
parts. Cover unused dough in a bowl with
plastic wrap. Roll out first portion of dough
to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut strips 1 1/4
inches wide by 4 or 5 inches long. Make slit
3/4 inches long - length wise - in center of
each strip. Fold over one end and carefully
pull through slit. Repeat with remaining
dough. Fry crispies in 1/2 inch shortening at
about 360 degrees. Do not use oil for
frying. Lightly brown both sides, turning as
needed. Remove from shortening - drain on
paper towels. Put about 1/2 C. powdered
sugar into paper bag. While still warm - not
hot - put 6 crispies into bag, close bag and
shake crispies around until coated with
sugar. Place crispies on cooky sheet. Keep
repeating cutting, frying and sugaring until
    all are finished. ENJOY

    Makes 5 or 6 dozen

This works better with two people. One
cutting and folding - and one frying and
    sugaring.
