    Cooked Frosting

    Recipe Introduction

Posted by: creid*****I just made this the other night! It is wonderful!!! Rather than being an icky sweet frosting, it just enhances whatever flavor the cake has! It is a GREAT frosting, although a little more labor intensive! Enjoy!

    List of Ingredients

    4 TBSP flour
1 cup milk - (or my friend uses liquid creamer)
    1/4 tsp salt
    1 stick butter or margarine
    1/2 cup shortening
    1 cup sugar
    1 tsp vanilla

    Recipe

Mix the flour and milk and salt and cook until thickened...stirring constantly.

Set this aside until it's completely cooled....and I mean completely!

Then cream the sugar, butter or margarine, AND the shortening and vanilla. Add that creamed mixture to the flour and milk 'cooled' mixture, and stir until mixed thoroughly!

I used butter flavored Crisco the other night, and it didn't work...it turned it an odd yellow, so you need to use regular Crisco.

You also have to let the cake cool completely, or the frosting will melt and separate on the cake...like mine did (I was in too big of a hurry!) LOL!!!
