    WILTON'S BUTTERCREAM FROSTING

    Source of Recipe

    BBR

    Recipe Introduction

Posted by: zakons *****************With all the raves on the Miracle Fudge I had to try it but I don't buy canned frosting because they have so much trans fat, so I decided to take a chance and try it with homemade frosting. I used the following recipe posted by Zakon, but made half the recipe and used just enough water (about 3 Tbs.)to make it creamy like canned frosting. I also only beat it on High for 1 minute instead of 10 because I didn't want it to be too fluffy. I made Carol's version with lemon frosting, 12 oz. white chips and crushed lemon drops (6 Tbsp. of finely crushed) It cut like a dream and holds up at room temperature and tastes like a slice of lemon pie.

    List of Ingredients

    2# powdered sugar
    1-1/2 c. Crisco
    2 Tbls. flour
1 Tbls. Cremora or Coffeemate (dry)
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. salt
    2/3 - 3/4 c. water
1 egg (optional) I add it - it gives the frosting a sheen & smooth consistency).

(I use 2/3 c. water when adding egg.)

    Recipe

Mix all ingredients together with electric stand mixer (Kitchen Aide preferrably) on low for 2 minutes, scrape down sides of bowl & beaters then beat on high for 10 minutes. Keep covered until time to frost cake.
