It will look like a mess of wet sand when you have mixed it all together It makes beautiful brownies — sufficient to prepare 5 pans 8” each.
The Brownie Mix:
5 cups sugar
3 cups flour
2 cups unsweetened baking cocoa
1 TB baking powder
1 TB salt
3 1/2 cups Crisco
In large bowl thoroughly stir together everything but the Crisco. Cut in the Crisco till mixture resembles gravel. Store in covered container up to 6 weeks in refrigerator. Freeze it up to 6 months.
To measure, lightly spoon mix into measuring cup & level off with flat side of knife blade. Makes about 14 cups mix or enough for 5 single recipes.

To Make The Brownies: Beat 2 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla and 2-3/4 cups of brownie mix. Stir till nearly smooth. Add 1/2-cup chopped nuts if you wish. Spread evenly in greased 8" square pan. Bake 350 degrees—about 30 minutes or till toothpick pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan. Dust in powdered sugar or frost in Fudge icing. Makes 16 squares.
