    Recipe Introduction

    Posted by: LinziePA

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup flour
    2 tbsp. sugar
    1/4 cup shortening
1-1/2 tbsp. cold butter or regular stick margarine (not spread), cut into small pieces
    3 tbsp. cold water

    Recipe

To make dough in food processor: Process flour, sugar, shortening and butter with on/off turns until coarse crumbs form. With motor running, add water. Process just until dough leaves sides of bowl. Remove blade, then dough.

To make dough by hand: Mix flour and sugar in a medium bowl. With pastry blender, cut in shortening and butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle with water, 1 tbsp. at a time, stirring with a fork after each addition until mixture clumps together to form a dough.

Press dough into a ball, then flatten into a 1" thick round. If not using immediately, wrap and refrigerate up to 3 days, or freeze up to 3 months.

    Two-Crust Pie:
Double all ingredients in above recipe except the sugar. Increase that to 3 tablespoons. Prepare dough as above. Divide in half. Press each half into a ball, then flatten into a 1" thick round. If using immediately, wrap half in plastic wrap or waxed paper to prevent drying while working with other half.
