    1/3 cup sugar
    1 tablespoon cornstarch
    1 cup crushed pineapple, undrained
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese (room-temperature)
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/2 teaspoon
    salt (optional)
    2 eggs
    1/2 cup milk
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla
    1/4 cup chopped nuts (macadamias, walnuts, pecans, almonds, your choice.)
    1 (9 inch) unbaked pastry shell

    Blend 1/3 cup sugar with cornstarch in a small sauce pan. Add
    pineapple and cook over a medium heat,stirring constantly, till thick and
    clear. Cool. Preheat oven to 400* degrees. Slowly blend 1/2 cup sugar and
    the salt into the softened cream cheese. Add the eggs, one at a time,
    stirring well after each addition. Blend in the milk and vanilla. Spread
    the cooled pineapple mixture over bottom of the pie shell. Pour in cream
    cheese mixture and sprinkle the nuts over. Bake at 400*degrees for 10
    minutes; then reduce heat to 325* degrees and bake 50 minutes longer. Cool
    before serving.
