Ham and Cabbage Soup

List of Ingredients
2 cups of diced ham
2 potatoes, peeled and diced
2 carrots, diced
2 celery stalks, diced
1 can diced tomatoes
1/2 head cabbage, sliced thin
2 cans chicken broth or bouillion
1/2 tsp. basil
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp. garlic minced or to taste
1/2 tsp. black pepper
Recipe
Put everything in pot except cabbage and (salt)? Cook until veggies are cooked through. Add cabbage and cook until just tender. You may have to add more water or chicken broth.
My comments: I used a can of stewed tomatoes, because I didn't have diced ones. I was not sure of how much salt, (or if any) to use, since the recipe did not say, so I added at least 1/4 or 1/2 tsp. at the beginning of cooking the vegetables. After adding the cabbage, I just added water as needed. I thought it was a delicious soup.
