    1 (17.5 oz) sugar cookie mix
    1/2 c. (1 stick) butter or margarine; melted
    1 egg
    1/2 c. mini choc. chips
    1/2 c. maraschino cherries, quartered

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 375. In a medium bowl, combine the cookie mix, butter and egg. Mix well.

    Stir in chocolate cips and maraschino cherries.

    Drop by rounded teasponful onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 9 to 10 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned. Cool cookies on cookie sheets for 1 minute before transferring to a cooling rack. When cool frost with chocolate frosting if desired.

    Chocolate frosting

    3 (1 oz squares) semi-sweet chocolate
    2 tablespoons butter
    2 cups powdered sugar
    2 tablespoons half and half (or milk)
    1 to 2 tablespooons maraschino cherry juice

    In medium bowl, combine chocolate mixture with 1/2 c. powdered sugar; mix well. Add half and half (or milk) to cherry syrup (start with 1 tablespoon and add a little more syrup if needed) and beat until mixture is smooth.

    Gradually add remaining powdered sugar, beating after each addition until mixture is smooth and reaches frosting consistency.
