    1/2 cup butter, softened
    2/3 cup sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 cup molasses
    2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
    1 tsp baking soda
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1 tsp ground ginger
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp cloves
    1/2 cup buttermilk
    Frosting
    1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
    4 1/2 tsp butter, softened
    1/2 tsp vanilla extract
    2-3 tbsp half & half

    Recipe



    In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in the egg and molasses. Combine the flour, soda, cinnamon, ginger, salt and cloves; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.

    Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until cookies spring back when lightly touched. Remove to wire racks to cool.

    Combine confectioners' sugar, butter, vanilla and enough cream to achieve spreading consistency. Frost cooled cookies.
