After many year of trying different recipes for candied sweet potatoes, with so-so results, this Thanksgiving I searched for the most basic recipe. And, guess what, my family loved them! Don't mess with the original...





List of Ingredients



• 7-8 sweet yams
  
• 3/4 cup white sugar
  
• 1 cup water
  
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
  
• 1 sm. box raisins (optional)
  
• 1/4 - 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  
• Marshmallows
  
• Butter
  
• Vanilla
  






Instructions



1. Peel & dice potatoes, boil until tender with white sugar and water.
   
2. Place in casserole dish.
   
3. Sprinkle with brown sugar, pecans (raisins).
   
4. Put a few pats of butter on top and vanilla.
   
5. Cover with foil & bake at 350 degrees for approximately 1/2 hour or 45 minutes.
   
6. When done, cover top with marshmallows & brown. Don't let burn
