    Chocolate Fudge [3801]

    Lily Wallace New American Cookbook 1945


    List of Ingredients


    • 2 cups sugar
    • 2/3 cup milk
    • 2 tablespoon corn sirup
    • 2 tablespoons butter or fat
    • 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, broken into small pieces
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla


    Instructions


    1. Put sugar, milk,sirup, and chocolate into saucepan. Stir until sugar is dissolved.

    2. Cook slowly until the temperature reaches 236F or until mixture forms a soft ball.

    3. Remove from heat. Add the butter.

    4. When cooled to lukewarm add the vanilla.

    5. Beat until thick

    6. Pour into shallow greased pan.

    7. Chill. Cut into squares when firm.

    8. Vanilla Fudge: Omit chocolate and increase vanilla to 1 1/2 tsp.

    9. Chocolate Coconut: After beating stir in 1/2 cup coconut.

    10. Chocolate nut: After beating stir in 1 cup of broken nuts

    11. Raisin Fudge: Add 1/2 cup nuts and 1/2 cup chopped raisins after beating.
