    Red Velvet Cake

    List of Ingredients


    • 1/2 cup shortening
    • 1 1/2 cups sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 2 oz. red food coloring
    • 2 1/4 cups flour
    • 2 tablespoons cocoa
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 cup buttermilk
    • 1 tablespoon vinegar
    • 1 teaspoon butter flavoring


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 350.

    2. Grease and flour two 8 inch round pans.

    3. Cream shortening, sugar, and eggs. Add coloring and cocoa to make a paste.

    4. Mix together salt, flour, buttermilk and vinilla. Add to paste.

    5. Alternately add soda and vinegar, just mix easy, don't beat mixture to hard.

    6. Pour into pans. Bake for 30 min. at 350.

    7. Cool. Frost.
