3/4 Cup Coconut
3/4 Cup Sugar

Cookies:
Cream shortening and sugar till fluffy, add eggs, milk and vanilla. Beat well. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture; mix well. chill one hour. roll half the dough at a time about 1/8 inch thick cut with 2 inch round cutter. Place date filling on each cookie. top with another cookie. Press edges to seal. Bake 375° F. for 10 - 12 min.
Filling:
Mix all the ingredient together and bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer 15 min. Stirring often. cool before using.
