    I always keep these ingredients stocked so I can whip up this meal in just minutes. It’s fast, simple, and delicious! SAUCE

    List of Ingredients






    2 cans (28 ounces each) peeled tomatoes coarsely chopped with juice
    1 medium onion (chopped)
    6 garlic cloves (sliced very thin)
    Salt and freshly ground black pepper
    20 fresh basil leaves
    1 pound whole-grain penne pasta


    Recipe



    Over medium-high heat, warm about 1/3 cup of the juice from the peeled tomatoes in a saucepan. Add the onion and saute until soft, about 7 minutes. Then add the garlic and saute another 3 minutes. (If the tomato juice is bubbling too much, turn the heat down to medium.) Add the remaining tomatoes and their juice. Lower the heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Add salt and pepper. Stir and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Turn off the heat and add the basil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Toss with the sauce and serve immediately.
