    Hot and Sour Seafood Salad (original recipe)
    Yam Talay

    Lettuce, parsley, cucumber, etc. for garnish.
    2 Tbsp / 30ml lemon juice
    1 tsp / 5 ml chilli powder
    2 Tbsp /30ml stock/broth
    1 tsp / 5 ml sugar
    2 Tbsp / 30ml fish sauce
    4 fish balls (from an Asian/Oriental store)
    4 large prawns (shrimp), shelled and deveined.
    2-4 crab claws
    4 pieces sliced squid
    2 lime leaves, fine sliced
    1 shallot, finely chopped
    1/2 small onion
    1 sprig coriander, coarse chopped

    Prepare a serving dish with the lettuce and other garnish items; set it aside.
    Combine lemon juice, stock, chilli powder, sugar and fish sauce in a pan. Bring
    it to a boil while stirring. Add fish balls, prawns, crab and squid, stir and
    cook a minute or two till the raw meat is cooked. Take off heat, add remaining
    ingredients. Mix all ingredients well, turn into the prepared dish and serve.
