    List of Ingredients




    3 cups flour
    2 teaspoons cream of tarter
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon soda
    1 cup soft butter, margarine lard or hydrogenated shortening
    2 eggs
    1 cup sugar
    2 teaspoons vanilla

    Recipe



    Sift together flour, cream of tarter, salt & soda. Cut in shortening until fine particles form.
    Beat the eggs well, add sugar & vanilla. Stir into first mixture & chill 1/2 hour.

    Pinch off dough & roll in balls about the size of walnuts. Place on greased cookie sheet. Flatten with a bottom of a glass which has been dipped in sugar.*

    Bake in 375 degree oven for 8~10 minutes.

    For variation, sift nutmeg & cinnamon with light brown sugar & sprinkle over top of cookies before baking.

    Or roll dough on lightly floured board to about 1/4- inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes.
