    List of Ingredients

    • 1 3/4 cup flour
    • 1 Tbsp baking powder
    • 3 Tbsp sugar
    • 3/4 tsp salt
    • 1/3 cup vegetable shortening
    • 3/4 cup milk
    • cooking spray

    Instructions

    1. Heat oven to 450 degrees.
    2. Mix flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. With pastry blender, cut in shortening until mixture resembles crumbs. Stir in milk all at once. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead lightly 10 to 12 times. Pat dough to about 3/8" thick: spray lightly with cooking spray: fold dough in half and pat lightly. Cut with 2" biscuit cutter or rim of a drinking glass, that has been dipped in flour. Place in a 9" round cake pan (ungreased) with sides barely touching. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
