    Recipe Introduction


    Mom Davis used the Orange Butter Icing recipe for this one. Pre heat oven to 350F, grease a 9" square cake pan.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1/4 cup soft butter
    • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
    • 1 egg
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 1 cup flour
    • 1 tsp baking powder
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1 cup of dates, cut up
    • 1/2 cup nuts, pecans or walnuts


    Instructions


    1. Cream butter and sugar.
    2. Add egg and vanilla and beat until smooth.
    3. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together into creamed mixture and blend well.
    4. Stir in the dates and nuts.
    5. Spread in the pan and bake 20 minutes or until the top springs back.
    6. Cool to lukewarm in the pan... spread with Orange Butter Icing.
