    Stromboli

    My cousin Elaine got this stuffed bread recipe from her former mother-in-law. None of us had ever heard of it before, and it's always a big hit when prepared for a special occasion.


    2 lbs. bread dough
    olive oil
    oregano
    basil
    1/4 lb. boiled ham
    1/4 lb. capicola
    1/4 lb. provolone cheese
    1/4 lb. salami
    1/4 lb. pepperoni


    Let dough rise. Punch down. Cut in half. Grease cookie sheet. Pat dough onto sheet and stretch to cover. Brush with oil and sprinkle with oregano and basil. Lay on meats and cheese. Fold over twice (like an envelope stuffer). Bake at 400º F. for 20 minutes, then at 350º F. for 5 minutes.
    Let cool on wire racks.
