    Nana's Sauce

This is the spaghetti sauce handed down to me from my grandmother via her daughter (my mother) Pauline (Jette) Secor. It's a very basic recipe that always draws raves from anyone that I serve it to. Easy to prepare and delicious: that's MY kind of recipe. Thanks, Nana!!

    1/2 lb. bacon
    1 large onion, chopped
1 medium green bell pepper, chopped
    1 Tbsp. olive oil
    2 (28-oz.) cans tomato purée
    3-1/2 cups water (1 28-oz. purée can)
    2 (6-oz.) cans tomato paste
    meatballs

Fry bacon and keep only the grease. Add olive oil and fry chopped onion and pepper until translucent. Add meatballs and fry until brown. Add tomato purée, water and tomato paste. Bring to a boil and simmer until the sauce
    cooks down and thickens.
