Old Fashioned Egg Custard

List of Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk (3/4 c. milk; 3/4 c. pet milk)
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg or vanilla
- 1 pastry pie shell (uncooked)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Mix together flour, sugar and eggs, beating until smooth.
- In a saucepan, heat milk and butter until butter is melted and milk is scalded.
- Add this to the egg mixture. Beat well until completely mixed.
- Flavor with nutmeg or vanilla.
- Pour into UNCOOKED pie shell. Bake at 400 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
- If the pie filling quivers, it is not done.
- If it ripples and set, it is done.
