    Old Fashioned Egg Custard

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 tablespoon flour
    • 3/4 cup sugar
    • 3 eggs
    • 1 1/2 cups milk (3/4 c. milk; 3/4 c. pet milk)
    • 1/2 stick butter
    • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg or vanilla
    • 1 pastry pie shell (uncooked)


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.


    2. Mix together flour, sugar and eggs, beating until smooth.


    3. In a saucepan, heat milk and butter until butter is melted and milk is scalded.


    4. Add this to the egg mixture. Beat well until completely mixed.


    5. Flavor with nutmeg or vanilla.


    6. Pour into UNCOOKED pie shell. Bake at 400 degrees for 20-30 minutes.


    7. If the pie filling quivers, it is not done.


    8. If it ripples and set, it is done.
