    Southeners Soup or Milk Gravy

    Source of Recipe

    Amy Sandifer

    List of Ingredients

    • 1/4 cup bacon grease - a must have in a southerner's diet
    • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 1/2 cups warm milk
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoons pepper
    • 2 tablespoons melted butter - another thing a southerner cant live without

    Instructions

    1. Heat bacon grease in a cast iron skillet if you are from the South, if you are a Yankee you can do it in a regular skillet. But it ain't going to taste the same, lol.

    2. Add the flour and whisk until smooth and bubbly about 1 minute.

    3. Add the warm milk slowly and bring to a boil.

    4. Reduce the heat to a low simmer and stir, until thickened, about 5 minutes, adding milk as necessary to control the thickness.

    5. Season the gravy with salt and pepper. Serve hot over biscuits.
