    Fried Green Tomatoes

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 cup corn meal
    • 3/4 tablespoon all purpose flour
    • 3/4 tablespoon cornstarch
    • 1 teaspoon sugar
    • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
    • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    • black pepper to taste
    • 5 green tomatoes (sliced)
    • bacon drippings for frying


    Instructions


    1. Combine cornmeal, flour, cornstarch, sugar and seasonings.


    2. Coat both sides of the tomato slices with the mixture.


    3. Place on wire rack and let dry for 10 minutes.


    4. In a large cast iron skillet, heat bacon grease over medium heat and fry tomatoes in a single layer.


    5. Cook until lightly brown.


    6. Place on wire rack to cool.
