Oriental Orange Chicken
Source of Recipe
(From a weight watcher's recipe)
6 chicken breasts
2 Tablespoons oil
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
1 can sugar free orange soda (or ginger ale)
1/4 cup soy sauce or teriaki sauce
1 teaspoon granulated garlic
1 teaspoon Chinese Five Spice Powder
Remove skin and fat from chicken.
Place garlic powder and five spice powder in zip bag and shake, add chicken
pieces and shake to coat. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 12
hours.
Dump oils, soda and soy sauce into a pan. Cook over medium heat until
reduced to half or less (about 30 minutes). Cool. Spray a 9 x11 inch
baking dish with non-stick spray.
Coat chicken in orange mixture and place into the baking dish, pour
remaining orange mixture over the chicken. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour or
until tender.
Baste a few times as chicken cooks.
Try it in a crockpot--use the reduced orange soda mixture and marinated
chicken, cook for 8 hours on medium or 10 hours on low.
